Stefano Pioli, in charge of AC Milan, has reviewed the results of the first leg of the Europa League 1/16 final against Crvena Zvezda (2-2).
“We are going home without a deserved win. We couldn’t hold on to it,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia.
“We should play better when the opponent has 10 men and not leave any empty areas. The approach was the right one, we did enough to win, but we didn’t realize the full potential of the situation.”
“We could have scored a third goal and, more importantly, not conceded a second. But 2-2 away is still a positive result for the first game.”
“We need to analyze our performances and improve the quality of the game. It is a very important stage of the season and we must play better. We should evaluate the situation as a whole. There was a time when the same players were playing because of injuries – now they are tired. We need to get everyone in shape. The worst thing is that we lost Bennacer.”
“The derby with Inter will be won by whoever concedes less. The clubs are on the same level and this is the right moment for such a match. We will be ready.”
