Liverpool to sell Jordan Henderson. Jordan Henderson is apparently the subject of a transfer fee from Liverpool, despite intense interest from Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.
Journalist Paul Joyce reports that the Reds are asking £20 million for their captain, which is the same amount they paid to bring him over ten years ago from Sunderland (h/t @TheAnfieldTalk). According to Fabrizio Romano, the player has agreed to terms with the Saudi Pro League team on a personal level.
Liverpool and Al-Ettifaq have yet to agree on a transfer cost, though. The Mirror (h/t @DeadlineDayLive) reports that Henderson has been offered a weekly salary of £700,000.
James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all left the Reds earlier this summer. Since then, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis MacAllister have been acquired to replenish the team’s midfield depth.
The team could need to sign another midfielder if Henderson leaves. Romeo Lavia, a defensive midfielder for Southampton, who is 19 years old, has caught their attention in particular.
Henderson will depart from Liverpool as a true modern-day legend if he does leave this summer. During his 12-year stint on Merseyside, he scored 33 goals and racked up 61 assists in 492 games.
Since Gerrard left Liverpool in 2015, the 33-year-old, who has two more years on his contract, has served as the team’s captain and has won every significant club football title.
Following a training session, Diogo Jota praised Liverpool’s newest recruit:
Before facing Karlsruher on July 19 in the club’s first preseason game, Liverpool players have resumed training.
Numerous Reds players, including Diogo Jota, had the opportunity to work out with Dominik Szboszlai for the first time. He became the fourth-most expensive signing in club history after his £60 million release clause was met this summer.
Jota commented on the 22-year-old international from Hungary’s performance in practice on the club’s official website: “Dominik was one of my group’s top runners yesterday, so they put in the effort. Today, July 11, I was immediately able to observe the qualities Alexis [Mac Allister] possessed. The most crucial thing, in my opinion, is that they will strengthen our team.”
We’ve been jogging a lot and practicing on the track, but we’d rather be back on the pitch today. It’s always fantastic to be back with Liverpool and the lads.
Additionally, Alexis Mac Allister made a £35 million summer transfer to the Reds from Brighton & Hove Albion. In Jurgen Klopp’s midfield next year, the two are anticipated to take the pitch right away.
