Newcastle and West Ham interested in signing Harry Maguire. According to GiveMeSport, Manchester United center-back, Harry Maguire is a target for Newcastle United and West Ham United this summer.
Under manager Erik Ten Hag, the England international has lost favor at Old Trafford. Only seven of Maguire’s Premier League starts for the Red Devils have come this year.
In comparison, the captain of Manchester United had a significantly bigger impact on the squad the previous year, when he made 30 appearances in English Premier League games.
The current Old Trafford contract for Maguire is scheduled to expire in 2025. The Red Devils are interested in other defenders like Kim Min-Jae of Napoli, so the England international may be able to secure a loan exit this summer.
The former Sheffield United defender has reportedly been linked to a transfer to Serie A, according to the aforementioned site. It’s known that Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan are keeping an eye on his position.
The Hammers and Magpies of the first division of English football are keeping an eye on the England international. Newcastle, however, might be a problem because Manchester United will need to decide whether they want to let him join a top-four opponent.
Since his transfer from Leicester City to Old Trafford in 2019, Maguire has made 174 appearances in all leagues. In that time, the England international has five assists along with seven goals.
With only two starts in the tournament this season, Maguire had a relatively minor impact on the Carabao Cup success even though he won it with the Red Devils.
Harry Maguire attributes Manchester United’s success at home to its fans:
This season, Manchester United has played exceptionally well at Old Trafford. Ten Hag’s team presently has a 29-game winning streak at home (across all competitions).
Maguire has commended the supporters for their encouragement off the pitch, which he believes has helped his team’s home performance this season. The representative of England told the club’s internal media:
“Our fans are extremely vital to us; they support us at both home and away games around the nation. But to be successful at Old Trafford, a team must make sure that its home is difficult for visitors to visit and produce results at, and this season, that’s what we’ve done.”
Added him: “We’ve played at a high level consistently here, and we’ve had some great performances and big results. The audience is crucial because we are aware that they can have a significant impact when they support us and have done so over the entire season. We are aware of how exceptional this season has been at Old Trafford. It has served as a true fortress for us.”
Manchester United has won 22 of their 37 league games this season, and they are presently third in the Premier League rankings. On Sunday, May 28, they will play Fulham at Old Trafford.
On June 3, they will play in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium against Manchester City.
