Newcastle United to close a £50m deal for Nicolo Barella. According to reports, Newcastle United is nearing a shocking £50 million agreement to sign Nicolo Barella, who is wanted by Liverpool.
The Italian midfielder played an important role on the Inter Milan squad that advanced to the 2022–23 UEFA Champions League final. For the Nerazzurri, Barella made 52 appearances in various competitions, contributing 10 assists and nine goals. Numerous elite European clubs are interested in him.
The Telegraph claims that clubs interested in hiring Barella included Liverpool. On free transfers, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita are expected to leave the team. The end of Arthur Melo’s loan period saw him return to Juventus as well.
Alexis Mac Allister has already signed a contract for €35 million with the Reds, but they still need to bolster their lineup. They appear to be losing out on Barella, though.
The midfielder’s transfer to St James’ Park is almost complete. Under Eddie Howe, the Magpies are soaring higher and higher. They participated in the UEFA Champions League in 2023–2024 and finished fourth in the Premier League last season.
In their midfield, the Tynesiders already have players like Bruno Guimaraes and Joelington. A player with Barella’s caliber and ability might have a huge impact on the team the next season.
In response to Alexis MacAllister joining Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk said:
Liverpool made a stunning move this summer when they acquired Alexis Mac Allister for a pitiful figure of €35 million from Brighton & Hove Albion. The midfielder is an Argentina 2022 FIFA World Cup champion. In 40 games across competitions, he scored 12 goals and provided three assists, making him an important player for Brighton & Hove Albion last season.
Now that the Reds have secured a transfer for Mac Allister, Virgil van Dijk has responded. The Dutchman asserted in a media interview that the Argentine is the kind of player Klopp’s squad needs.
Using Sky Sports, he stated: “I believe he will unquestionably be a significant addition and something we need to get back to where we want to be. So the transfer window is off to a good start, and maybe we add a few more top-notch players. However, he is unquestionably one of the guys that may help us in the coming years.”
The Premier League and the international stage have both recognized Mac Allister’s potential. As a result, his acquisition would greatly assist Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool looks to improve upon its Premier League fifth-place finish from last season.
