William Gallas praises Chelsea star Thiago Silva. Thiago Silva, a seasoned Chelsea player, has received appreciation from William Gallas for his reliable efforts for the Blues thus far this season. One of Graham Potter’s team’s few standout performers has been the Brazilian. Even if the Londoners have had trouble this season, Silva has distinguished himself from the rest of the group by showcasing his exceptional skills. The Brazilian is still going strong at the age of 38.
Gallas noted that Silva’s longevity is evidence of his professionalism on the field. He cited examples from the match between Chelsea and West Ham United, which was tied 1-1 at the London Stadium. Gallas asserted that Silva avoided engaging in a strength competition with the physically stronger Michail Antonio. Instead, the Brazilian outperformed the Jamaican international by using his positional awareness.
In a recent interview with Genting Casino, Gallas stated the following: “Thiago Silva is highly intelligent. He is a very shrewd defender, which allows him to play at this level at his age. He faced Antonio, a big, strong opponent for West Ham, but he handled him with ease. He didn’t always take part in the physical challenge against him. He sat down and waited for passes to come. He is amazing when you observe his play and the way he perceives danger. Because he is so intelligent, he doesn’t depend on his pace, which allows him to continue playing.”
Gallas praised Silva’s way of life even more. He said that because the Brazilian spends much of his free time with family away from the field: “His personal life is wonderful if you look at it. He is a family man and doesn’t go out often. Again, he is a fantastic example for anyone who aspires to be a defender as well as for the other defenders on the team. He is a really professional player.”
The 38-year-old Silva has played 25 times for the Blues so far this year. One of the most important components of the Blues’ season is his presence at the back. The center defense just extended his contract with Chelsea. His current deal will be in effect until the conclusion of the 2023–24 season.
Silva has made 107 appearances for the Blues since joining the team in 2020. The defender will likely be a key player for the squad for the remainder of the regular season as the UEFA Champions League knockout stages get underway.
