Joao Felix makes a bold claim about his future at Chelsea. Joao Felix, a forward on loan from Chelsea, said he has enjoyed his time there so far and that he hopes to stay.
Following a clash with manager Diego Simeone, the Portuguese forward left Atletico Madrid and signed for the Blues on a six-month loan in January of this year. In 14 Premier League outings, he has only three goals. Felix did, however, admit that his experience at Chelsea over the past six months has been wonderful.
He said the following to The Secret Scout when discussing his future: “My future is still uncertain, but I’ve been enjoying it these past four or five months. I would like to be here.”
It is not unexpected to learn that Felix wants to stay in west London given his dispute with Simeone. Before joining Chelsea, he extended his contract with Atletico until 2027, but Miguel Angel Gil Marin, the club’s CEO, had already indicated that they intended to sell him.
According to a quote from him (included in Desporto Ao Minuto): “The greatest wager the club has ever placed was on Felix. I believe he is a top-tier athlete and among the greatest in the world, but for reasons I won’t get into right now, his motivation is low and his relationship with the coach is strained. Although I would like for it to go on, the player does not intend for it to.”
In October of last year, everything came to a head. Felix warmed up three times before Atletico’s match against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League, but Simeone ultimately decided to sit him out. He allegedly gave his agent Jorge Mendes the order to hunt for a new team, according to 90Min.
Despite all of their difficulties, he seems to have a fresh lease on life now that he is at Chelsea.
The Blues are now occupying the 12th spot in the Premier League standings despite having spent over £500 million. With 43 points from 36 games, they have already eliminated themselves from playing in Europe the following year.
Chelsea will start a new era under Mauricio Pochettino:
There is a lot of potential surrounding Mauricio Pochettino’s anticipated appointment as Chelsea’s next permanent manager. During his five and a half years as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, the Argentine rebuilt the club and led them to several cup finals, notably the Champions League final in 2019.
At PSG, he also displayed an astounding 65.48 win percentage. However, his failures in Europe ultimately limited his stay in Paris as the Parisians were eliminated in the Round of 16 in both of his seasons as coach.
He will have yet another enormous rebuilding challenge at Chelsea, where the team is presently experiencing a crisis. It would be an understatement to suggest that their performances have been dreadful.
In 36 league games, the Blues have only won 11 times while scoring just 36 goals. Additionally, their record of 15 losses is tied for the most in a single Premier League season.
