Lyon in pursuit of Chelsea star. According to reports, Lyon has started a pursuit of Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic. After four years with the team, the USMNT star is willing to move on from Stamford Bridge.
According to a report by David Ornstein of The Athletic, AC Milan and Lyon are the two clubs reportedly interested in signing Pulisic this summer. Chelsea and Milan have been in talks, but the clubs have very different opinions of the player.
The Blues sought at least £25 million to approve the sale, while the Serie A team offered £12 million. Lyon has now outbid the San Siro team with an offer of €25 million (£21.5 million).
Additionally, the Ligue 1 team is prepared to include a strong sell-on provision for the Blues. Chelsea accepts the offer, according to Ornstein, and may proceed with the deal.
Although he has reached an agreement with AC Milan, Pulisic has not yet decided whether to transfer to Ligue 1. The American would be scheduled to play Strasbroug, the Blues’ sister club, on the opening day of the new season if he were to sign with the French team.
Christian Pulisic hints at frustration over game time at Chelsea:
Christian Pulisic had made it known that he would be keeping his options open this summer since he was not content at Chelsea to remain a bench player. The 2022–23 season, he said, was challenging, but he was anxious to return to the field.
It’s been an interesting experience for me at club level, he remarked last month in an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer. I felt those two years were fantastic, and the subsequent two simply haven’t gone as I had anticipated. We’ll have to wait and watch what transpires this summer since it’s obviously extremely early. I currently play for Chelsea and intend to return there, but a lot can change, a lot can go wrong.
Pulisic went on to say: “[My club future] is really in the back of my mind — I’m not even thinking about where I want to be right now,” the player remarked. After this, I need to rest, but I also need to enjoy my break, see my family, and do other fun things. When the time comes to decide and think about my options, I’ll take care of it.”
For Chelsea, Christian Pulisic has 26 goals in 145 games. He joined the squad in January 2019 from Borussia Dortmund and played with them for six months on loan before departing in the summer of that same year.
