Chelsea is not interested in paying £77 million fee. According to reports, Chelsea is unwilling to spend the £77 million. Brighton & Hove Albion is asking for Moises Caicedo before the upcoming season.
Since the beginning of the year, the Blues’ main target has been Caicedo, 21. The Blues reportedly made a £55 million approach for him earlier this year, but Brighton decided to turn it down.
Chelsea has reportedly rekindled their interest in the defensive midfielder this summer, according to Todofichajes. To entice him away from the Amex Stadium, they have already put up a new offer of £56 million plus bonuses.
According to reports, Brighton is holding out for a transfer fee of over £77 million for the 32-cap Ecuadorian international. With the money, Seagulls head coach Roberto De Zerbi hopes to get two replacements.
Caicedo would become a regular starter for Mauricio Pochettino’s team if he were to sign with them this summer. Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante just left Chelsea for Manchester City and Al Ittihad, respectively, so the team requires new midfielders.
In 53 games for Brighton thus far, Caicedo has scored two goals and made three assists. His current contract is slated to expire in June 2027.
Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson are the two players Chelsea has already shelled out on this summer.
Rio Ferdinand warns Mauricio Pochettino about Chelsea squad ahead of latest stint:
Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, raised the alarm for Mauricio Pochettino on FIVE about Chelsea’s dangerous roster condition before the start of a new coaching chapter. In terms of the movement taking place there, he stated that “Chelsea has been one of the stories of the summer for me. both the number of new players and the number of gamers leaving at the moment.
Ferdinand continued by highlighting the Blues’ lack of depth in the midfield: “If you take a look at their midfield, Jorginho left last year, along with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic. Five midfielders, two or three of them are starters. At present, that team doesn’t have a midfield.”
The Stamford Bridge team has already made close to £134 million this summer from player sales. Mateo Kovacic, Kai Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, and Ruben-Loftus Cheek have all been let go.
The Blues are also anticipated to complete Mason Mount’s departure this week. They will get £60 million from Manchester United (bonuses included).
According to rumors, among other players, the Blues are also expected to split ways with Conor Gallagher, Hakim Ziyech, and Christian Pulisic.
