Erling Haaland is the new benchmark for many strikers out there who are young and learning and can learn a lot from Haaland’s style and skills. Jamie Callagher compared Haaland to Thierry Henry who was a Premier League Legend of all time and he also added that “He will make defenders scared to stand in front of him and they will run past to avoid embarrassment for themselves.”
Haaland has scored his third hat-trick for Manchester City against their arch-rivals Man United and claimed a win by 6-3. He scored 3 goals and 2 assists in the game. This is Haaland’s eighth Premier League appearance and he has already broken many records.
Gallagher on SkySports said, “There was one player in my career who shook me and affected me mentally, he was Thierry Henry. You must think that a player who is better than you will make mistake and you will find the error and you will create an opportunity to strike but it was a failed game plan for the year 2002 till 2004. The most embarrassing moment to me in my career on the field was the goal which was against Liverpool at Highbury. I fell and cower, I felt embarrassed and it was not me it or my thinking but it was the Henry effect that took over me.
“I used to feel that he shouldn’t embarrass me again and that what exactly Haaland is doing to their defenders on the field. Defenders may think they can stop him, they can change his direction and win a chance however that will not happen.”
In just eleven appearances, Haaland has scored 17 goals which is a great achievement. One of the fastest players to score three hat-tricks in the Premier League with only 8 appearances. It looks unavoidably that Haaland will stop at 3 goals in a match, he will go on if he keeps the same form and aggression. There will be many more opportunities on his way with many tournament games will come for him.
