Once again, established superstars and high-priced summer acquisitions are competing for the coveted Premier League Golden Boot. The winner will be named the league’s top goal scorer.
Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, who just joined Manchester City and Liverpool, respectively, are among those who have brought their unique skill sets to a group of top-tier strikers that already includes players like Mohamed Salah of Anfield and Harry Kane of Tottenham.
1 Erling Haaland (Manchester City – 15 goals)
Erling Haaland’s transfer to England always seemed to be a question of time, and Manchester City was the lucky winner in the 2022 transfer lottery. The prolific Norwegian, whose track record suggests he will send rival defenders fleeing for cover, maybe the season’s best deal at £51 million.
2 Harry Kane (Tottenham – 8 goals)
Harry Kane, a forward for Tottenham who has won three Golden Boots previously, is undoubtedly skilled at finding the back of the net. The World Cup is on the England captain’s mind this season, but he won’t let that stop him from trying to score more goals at the club level.
3 Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham – 6 goals)
Fulham No. 9 last season, Aleksandar Mitrovic scored 43 goals, completely rewriting the history of the Football League. During prior seasons in the Premier League, questions about the Serbian international’s track record at the highest level were raised. However, he is determined to dispel any skeptics.
4 Phil Foden (Manchester City – 6 goals)
The star of Manchester City, Phil Foden, participated in 28 Premier League games last year and scored three goals. The English international will want to increase his goal total this time.
5 Ivan Toney (Brentford – 6 goals)
Ivan Toney attempted 14 goals last season to follow up his 33 goals that helped Brentford gain promotion to the Premier League. The strong Bees striker is a handful for any defender in the air and on the ground, and he excels at penalty kicks as well.
6 Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal – 5 goals)
While playing for Manchester City for five and a half years, Gabriel Jesus won four Premier League championships, giving Arsenal a proven winner. The Brazilian international is anticipated to excel if given consistent access to the preferred No. 9 position.
7 Roberto Firmino (Liverpool – 5 goals)
Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will be expected to carry the load of advancing Liverpool this season after Sadio Mane leaves in the summer of 2022. He has scored 100 goals for the Reds and is used to doing exactly that.
8 Leandro Trossard (Brighton – 5 goals)
Leandro Trossard, a Belgian attacker, has consistently produced for Brighton during his stay in England. He will almost always contribute with a useful goal total.
9 James Maddison (Leicester – 5 goals)
James Maddison seems to have fallen farther down the England playmaking hierarchy, but the star of Leicester could still force his way there before the 2022 World Cup. Due to his passing skills and set-piece expertise, he continues to be an important player for the Foxes.
10 Alexis Mac Allister (Brighton – 4 goals)
Although the small Argentine of Scottish and Irish ancestry, Alexis Mac Allister, is not the most well-known midfielder in the Premier League, there are many things to enjoy about him. He will be essential if Brighton is to build on their excellent 2021–22 season this time around. He is technically sound and has an eye for a pass.
11 Rodrigo (Leeds – 4 goals)
With only 13 goals scored over two seasons at Elland Road, Spain’s Rodrigo has failed to live up to Leeds’ significant investment in him. However, he is a skilled marksman, and his productivity frequently encourages others to thrive in his vicinity.
12 Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace – 4 goals)
For Crystal Palace, Wilfried Zaha is still the go-to player when they need an offensive spark. The international winger from Ivory Coast is crucial to the Eagles’ strategies because of his originality and knack for setting up teammates, but he also has a knack for scoring goals.
13 Miguel Almiron (Newcastle – 4 goals)
Since Eddie Howe was hired as coach last season, Paraguayan forward Miguel Almiron has seen a revival. He has developed into a key member of Newcastle’s team, which has only dropped one game all year.
