Chelsea will be signing Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. Chelsea is in negotiations to borrow Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid until the end of the current campaign. By defeating rivals Manchester United and Arsenal, the Blues want to sign the Portuguese forward. According to the Telegraph, Chelsea has moved up in line to sign the 23-year-old. Armando Broja is out for the season, therefore Graham Potter’s team is looking to bring in a temporary substitute.
The teenage Chelsea striker underwent surgery after sustaining an ACL injury earlier in the month. Felix is thought to be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s preferred long-term substitute and eventual successor. Felix could leave Atletico next month since the Portuguese player dropped in importance under boss Diego Simeone. In 12 league games this season for Atletico, Felix has three goals and the same number of assists.
In light of Joao Felix’s desire to leave the club, Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin has stated that the club is open to bids for the forward in January. He implied that the player and club boss had a falling out, making Felix’s exit “an option.”
Marn remarked: “The biggest wager this club has ever placed was on (Joao Felix). He is, in my opinion, a world-class player with top talent. For reasons that aren’t worth going into, such as his connection with the manager (Simeone), the number of minutes played, and his current level of motivation, it seems acceptable to assume that we should consider any options that are advantageous to both the player and the organization. I’d prefer that he stay, but I don’t believe that was the player’s plan.”
Simeone also gave the impression that he would be okay with Felix leaving, saying: “Nobody is necessary, and circumstances will develop as they must. For us, it is incredibly significant. He had a successful World Cup, contributing to goals with the significance that his coach assigned to him. We’re hoping to see the best Joao since the World Cup. We can only hope that we offer him the serenity and happiness he needs to demonstrate in the game what he saw during the World Cup.” The Portuguese star is reportedly willing to join Manchester United and Arsenal, two teams that are interested in recruiting him.
