Former Chelsea player requests FA to act against Klopp’s “bad behavior”. Chris Sutton, a former Chelsea player, has requested that the FA punish Jurgen Klopp for his most recent on-field actions. Because the situation has persisted for too long, he believes that the German will remain the same unless he is charged.
In front of the fourth official, Klopp celebrated Digo Jota’s subsequent victory, which was the topic of much discussion among commentators. Despite inflicting hamstring damage, he was still able to receive a booking after referee Paul Tierney was instructed to do so by another official.
Sutton urged the FA to take action after the incident in a piece for the Daily Mail. He demanded a prohibition in his writing: “Once again, we are discussing Klopp’s poor conduct and the poor example he is establishing for the millions of powerful home viewers. This all starts at the local level, where referees who sacrifice their weekends for little pay are treated poorly in return.
He added: “Profiles do not get much greater than Klopp’s, and you hope that when he saw the video of himself flying at Brooks and tearing his hamstring, he winced. The Football Association must control everything. Slaps on the wrist are insufficient. A fine alone is ineffective as a deterrence. The only solution is prohibition.”
It has been revealed that PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Board) is investigating the event.
Paul Tierney’s partiality against Liverpool has been alluded to by Jurgen Klopp:
Referee Paul Tierney’s ruling for a foul on Harry Kane infuriated Jurgen Klopp. Tottenham scored from the penalty spot to tie the score in the 93rd minute, but Jota scored a dramatic late winner to give Liverpool all three points.
However, according to Klopp (via LiverpoolECHO), the referee did not meet with his approval: “How was Mohamed Salah fouled (before Tottenham’s third goal)? We have had a relationship with Tierney. I am not sure what he has against us; he claims there are no issues, but that can not be the case. I do not know why he stares at me the way he does. Since these situations are so complex and difficult to comprehend, nobody in England is required to explain them. It is fair to say that my celebration was unnecessary, but what he said to me after giving me the yellow card was unacceptable.”
With the victory, Liverpool surpassed Tottenham and is currently ranked fifth in the league. They have five games remaining and are seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who have a game in hand.
