The widespread report of Chelsea agreed to sign an agreement with Timo Werner this summer has been denied by Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of RB Leipzig.
Reports this week suggested that the Blues triggered Werner’s £ 53.8 m release clause and agreed to a five-year deal worth £200,000 a week with the 24-year-old.
However, Mintzlaff denied there had been any formal approach from the side of Frank Lampard before the match between Leipzig and SC Paderborn last afternoon.
“We’ve still not had an exchange with Chelsea,” he told reporters.
“So far, Timo Werner has not drawn the clause, nor has a club sent a transfer contract.”
This season in all competitions Werner has scored 31 goals and was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool before the Chelsea reports emerged.
