Todd Boehly is unhappy with the Chelsea. In a dressing room meeting last weekend, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly reportedly singled out a high-profile signing for subpar performances this season. Prior to the important Champions League encounter against Real Madrid, the player cut a disappointed figure at practice.
Boehly was not pleased with Chelsea’s current situation, according to the Telegraph and the Guardian. They only have the Champions League to play for this season, therefore he wants the players to concentrate on that competition.
According to Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian, “One senior player, signed for a sizable fee in the past 12 months, was singled out for heavy criticism.” Before Chelsea attempts to recover a 2-0 disadvantage from the first leg versus Madrid, the player, whose identity is not being released, is thought to be disenchanted with the circumstances and cut a displeased figure in training.
Although the player’s identity has not been disclosed in either story, Chelsea supporters assume it to be Raheem Sterling due to his subpar performances this year.
Raheem Sterling was acquired by Chelsea from Manchester City:
Raheem Sterling was the top player on Thomas Tuchel’s transfer wishlist when he made the admission that he was interested in acquiring him in the summer. He got his wish, but just a few weeks into the season before being fired.
“Seeing in the last two years it’s four or five finals that you guys have been in, the progress, you won the Champions League and are now looking to challenge for the Premier League, it’s something that intrigued me when I was having a conversation with the club,” Sterling said in a statement to Chelsea’s official website following the transfer. I truly believe in the path you guys are taking, and I simply feel like this is a place where I can really find myself.”
He further continued: “I just think it’s the ideal platform for me. The team already has a winning mindset, but I believe that top coaches like Thomas [Tuchel] do it year after year, winning more and more trophies while improving on the previous campaign. What motivates me to be here is the fact that it’s not a case of winning one year and relaxing the following.”
In his 22 Premier League outings, Sterling has only assisted twice and scored four goals. The Englishman still has three goals left in the Champions League, including one against Borussia Dortmund in the Round of the 16-second leg that was extremely important.
