Chelsea defeats Tottenham Hotspur by two goals.
Chelsea secure a 2-0 win in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final clash against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. An early strike from Kai Havertz and an own goal from Ben Davies has put the Blues in command of the tie heading into the second leg.
Thomas Tuchel’s men could have engineered a stronger position for themselves, but lacked a cutting edge in the final third in the second half.
Goals:

Kai Havertz puts Chelsea ahead Havertz finds the back of the net from close range following a mistake by Tanganga at the back.
The Spurs defender sells Emerson short on the right flank and Alonso makes the interception. He releases Havertz into the left-inside channel and the German holds his composure to fire low and hard at goal.
His effort takes a deflection off Sanchez before finding the back of the net. Chelsea 1-0 Tottenham

Davies puts the ball into his own net Davies scores an own goal, but he is powerless as Tanganga heads the ball straight off his team-mate from point-blank range.
Ziyech delivers a dangerous free-kick into the box from the right flan. Tanganga seems to have the situation covered as he gets back to head it away.
However, he plants his clearing header straight off Davies and the deflection flies into the top-right corner. Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham
Now Chelsea are well placed in their bid to advance to the EFL Cup final, while Tottenham can be thankful they are not completely out of the tie.
The second leg of the tie is scheduled to take place on January 12 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
