West Ham’s manager criticizes Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristiano Ronaldo has come under fire from West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady for declaring himself a special player. According to Brady, Lionel Messi or Pele would never make such a claim.
Cristiano Ronaldo signed a free transfer agreement in December with Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr, where he would earn £175 million annually. The Portuguese star’s contract was mutually ended in November of last year, and he left Manchester United.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner made an unseemly assertion at his first press conference at the club after relocating to the Middle East. According to Cristiano Ronaldo, his expensive Al Nassr deal is special because he is a special player.
Brady, the West Ham manager, made the following comments in her Sun column: “Ronaldo might have a lot of positive qualities. He is an unstoppable goal scorer and athletic. However, the current statement, “I’m thrilled, proud to join Al Nassr,” smacks of arrogance. Because I am a unique player, this deal is also unique. It is typical for me.”
The Portuguese ace, she continued, was fixated on his longtime opponent, an Argentine, and she added: “He isn’t really original, to begin with. He excels at most things and performs some things excellently, but he does nothing that no one else has or can. Messi and Pele wouldn’t utter anything similar. His fascination with Messi, whose career at Barcelona was at least on par with his at Real Madrid, often pokes Ronaldo in the ribs.”
Brady said that Cristiano Ronaldo, as opposed to Messi, who won the competition with Argentina, would have been disappointed with Portugal’s FIFA World Cup performance. She added that Ronaldo didn’t play in Portugal’s Round of 16 or quarterfinal games.
After a major disagreement between the club and Cristiano Ronaldo as a result of the player’s harsh interview with Piers Morgan, his contract at Old Trafford was terminated. The Portuguese superstar is a major fan of the British broadcaster, who thinks Ronaldo now has an advantage over Messi because of his switch to Al-Nassr.
Morgan said: “Ronaldo, who is now the highest-paid athlete in the world at the age of 37, completed the largest transfer deal in football history as a result of the publicity generated by our interview. He’s also doing what he’s always done, which in my opinion gives him the advantage over Messi, which is to challenge himself in a new country and league at a moment when football in the Middle East is really looking to take off, as we saw at the Qatar World Cup, where Saudi Arabia defeated Messi’s Argentina in the final and Morocco advanced to the semifinals.”
