Manchester United takes a risk angering Alejandro Garnacho. Manchester United is still holding onto Alejandro Garnacho and running the risk of earning his fury. Alejandro Garnacho, 18, is reportedly upset with Manchester United for allegedly refusing to let him join the Argentina U-20 team for the U-20 Sudamericano, which begins on January 20.
To discourage Garnacho from pondering a move to Spain, the Argentina national team roster called him up back in March. Before deciding to play for the Argentine U20 team, he had three appearances for Spain’s U-18 team. Garnacho’s allegiance appears to remain with the South American country despite being left out of the 26-man team that went to Qatar. He appears to have been blocked from traveling to meet up with his international teammates by the Red Devils, though.
According to TyC Sports (h/y Express), Garnacho is not the only player who needs to be released by their clubs in order to join manager Javier Mascherano’s team. The same can be said for Luka Romero of Lazio, Franco Carboni of Cagliari, Valentin Carboni of Inter Milan, and Matias Soule of Juventus.
Numerous South American footballing greats, like Casemiro, Lautaro Martinez, and Neymar Jr., left a lasting impression at this competition before cementing their places on their respective national teams. If Manchester United allows Garnacho to participate in the competition, he will try to do the same.
Even if they choose to release him later, it would interfere with his tournament preparations, which might lead Mascherano to consider other possibilities. The 18-year-old winger has seen increasingly more playing time recently under manager Erik ten Hag.
In 10 games for Manchester United this season across all competitions, Garnacho has two goals and two assists. This includes victories over Real Sociedad in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League and Fulham in the Premier League.
