Fabrizio Romano says Thomas Partey will leave Arsenal. Three years after moving to the Emirates from Atletico Madrid, Thomas Partey may quit Arsenal this summer, according to reports.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer specialist, tweeted: “Understand that Thomas Partey has a real chance of leaving Arsenal this summer. Clubs are intrigued, and his departure is being discussed. There are currently no discussions to extend the contract, which expires in June 2025. Declan Rice remains Arsenal’s priority.”
Despite missing a few games due to injury, Partey was one of Mikel Arteta’s most-used players last season, making 40 appearances across all competitions. However, it appears that his race at the Emirates is finished.
The last two years of Partey’s deal with Arsenal begin next month. He is 30 years old. Since Declan Rice remains their top priority, it appears that the Gunners have not taken any action to extend his stay in north London.
The prospective addition of the West Ham United captain could increase Partey’s competition. Granit Xhaka, on the other hand, might leave the Gunners this summer, and Jorginho, who is 31 years old, has a deal that runs out in 2024.
Due to Partey’s likely departure, Rice might also need to sign another midfielder. Along with the highly regarded England international, Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion has also been mentioned in connection with Arsenal.
Bernd Leno said he has no regrets about switching from Arsenal to Fulham:
Aaron Ramsdale forced Bernd Leno out of the starting lineup, and he left Arsenal to join Fulham last summer. Prior to the 2022–23 campaign, the German spent three seasons as the Gunners’ first-choice custodian, appearing in 125 matches across all competitions. Given that Fulham had recently been promoted from the Championship, a transfer there might have been dangerous.
The Cottagers, on the other hand, had a fantastic season and placed 10th. Leno was recently questioned about whether he regretted leaving the Emirates, a team that came close to winning the Premier League.
In response, the 31-year-old said through BILD (credit: Dailycannon.com): “Never at all. Ultimately, Arsenal failed to win the title, but nonetheless, I had to take a good, hard look at myself since the Arsenal chapter was ended for me. I still get along well with a few guys. After the Arsenal chapter, though, I’m not in tears because I didn’t miss anything or have any regrets.”
Last season, Leno played in each of Fulham’s 36 Premier League contests with the exception of two, recording eight shutouts. He has two more years on his contract at Craven Cottage.
