Arsenal is interested in signing Mohamed Simakan. According to reports, Arsenal is very interested in hiring RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan.
The Gunners want to add Simakan to their team this summer to strengthen their backline, according to the Guardian. Although he can play at right back, his primary position is in the middle of the defense.
The Frenchman moved to Leipzig from Strasbourg in the summer of 2021, and in 75 games in various competitions since then, he has tallied four goals and nine assists. After the current season, his Red Bull Arena contract will still have four years left on it.
Therefore, it wouldn’t be shocking if Leipzig assigned Simakan a high price. His age and adaptability make him a potential asset for Mikel Arteta’s squad. Arsenal’s natural center-backs are William Saliba, Rob Holding, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Jakub Kiwior.
While Holding has had trouble consistently delivering at a high level, Saliba has been out since mid-March due to a back issue. Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, who have played as right-backs under Arteta, can also play as center-backs, and Kiwior has been impressive recently.
It is therefore unclear whether Simakan will be persuaded to leave Leipzig for north London if he isn’t promised first-team time. When healthy and available, Gabriel and Saliba haven’t done anything to deserve their exclusion from the starting XI.
Newcastle star reveals that Arsenal will leave permanently in 2021:
Joe Willock has acknowledged that he left Arsenal to make a permanent move to Newcastle United because he didn’t feel appreciated there.
The 2004 signing of the Hale End Academy graduate saw him rise through the ranks before making the senior team. However, he was loaned to Newcastle for the second half of the 2020–21 campaign after making just 40 career starts for the team.
Willock was allowed to become a permanent member of the Magpies after the season. Despite his passion for Arsenal, he had little trouble making his decision.
Willock recently reflected on the summer of 2021, as reported by the Daily Telegraph via Metro: “That summer, we spoke on the phone frequently. It became obvious that I wasn’t valued at Arsenal. It was clear from our meeting that they wanted me to go. The pain was real. If I had stayed, I would have likely floundered for an additional year. Since I was four and a half years old, I had been there. My life had been given to Arsenal.”
The 23-year-old Willock has played a significant role in Tyneside’s Eddie Howe revolution. He has participated in 33 of the 34 league games played by third-place Newcastle this year, with three goals and six assists.
