Chris Sutton predicts Liverpool vs Arsenal. Chris Sutton, a BBC pundit has predicted that on Sunday, April 9, Arsenal will defeat a struggling Liverpool team 3-1 at Anfield in the Premier League.
Sutton has highlighted the Reds’ defensive flaws and thinks Mikel Arteta’s team is more than capable of taking advantage of a porous backline.
The former player-turned-commentator said that Jurgen Klopp’s team won’t be able to contain Arsenal’s offense and won’t maintain a clean sheet as they did against Chelsea in midweek.
Chris Sutton was quoted as saying in his BBC Sport column.: “I have to hold my hands up and admit I got it wrong a lot with my predictions for Liverpool this season because I kept thinking they had turned a corner – and they haven’t done.”
It isn’t much wrong with their front line, but their defense is woefully inadequate. I’m surprised Jurgen Klopp’s team was able to keep a clean sheet against Chelsea, he continued. On Sunday, they won’t be able to keep Arsenal out. There is a 0% possibility of that happening. Given how they are currently playing, I fully anticipate Arsenal to arrive at Anfield, play swaggeringly, and breeze right past Liverpool.
Recent history has not been kind to Arsenal’s performance at Anfield. Chris Sutton, though, thinks that the Gunners will finally end their curse this time.
He continued further: “The Gunners haven’t triumphed there since September 2012, when Mikel Arteta was a team member, so in the past, this might have been a trip they dreaded. Not anymore.”
Currently, Mikel Arteta’s team leads the Premier League standings after accruing 72 points in 29 games. They lead second-place Manchester City by eight points. However, the Gunners have one more game under their belt than the defending champs.
Liverpool, on the other hand, is finding it difficult to keep up in the fight for a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the upcoming season. The Reds have 43 points after 28 games and are seventh in the rankings. In the league, they have lost their last three games.
If they defeat Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield, the Gunners might beat Liverpool twice this season. When the two teams last faced off in the Premier League back in October, the current league leaders came out on top 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium.
For the Gunners on that occasion, Gabriel Martinelli scored one goal while Bukayo Saka earned a triple trick. The Reds’ scorers were Roberto Firmino and Darwin Nunez.
