With the beer already flowing – most of it down Nagelsmann’s clean black shirt – Bayern Munich are crowned German champions for a record-extending 10th time in a row, beating their closest rivals today with a controlled performance.
The Bavarians win their seventh successive Klassiker thanks to goals from Gnabry, Lewandowski and Musiala.
With only a period at the start of the second half significantly troubling them.
Despite having a reasonable claim, Dortmund had their chances – and was also denied a penalty with the score at 2-1.
But must ultimately concede that Munich still hosts the Bundesliga’s dominant force.
Starting lineup:
BAYERN MUNICH (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez, Alphonso Davies; Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka; Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman; Robert Lewandowski.

Goals:
BAYERN LEAD! The champions-elect go in front, as Gnabry coolly controls the ball on the edge of the box when it breaks to him following Kimmich’s corner via Goretzka, and slams a powerful shot past Hitz! One shot on goal, and already it’s Bayern 1-0 Dortmund.
LEWANDOWSKI DOES IT AGAIN! After a let-off for the visitors just minutes ago, Zagadou now errs in defence, allowing Gnabry to pounce – with the ball finding Muller in space. He feeds Lewandowski inside the box, and the Polish striker does not miss from there – he fires it into the bottom-right corner, and Bayern leads 2-0.
BVB IS BACK IN IT! Can’s calmly taken penalty send the ball into the left side of the net, with Neuer diving the other way. The visitors have reduced their deficit.
3-1 Bayern Munich! Indeed that’s it? Musiala makes it happen by surging into the area and firing a shot at Hitz. Then, after Dortmund fails to clear the ball properly, it pinballs around the box and again falls to the young Germany international. He picks out the bottom-left corner with his second attempt, and the champions are set to be crowned.
So, what’s next?
Bayern’s 31st Bundesliga title represents the second trophy of the Nagelsmann era after the young coach added a first major trophy to this season’s Supercup – also won by beating Dortmund. Having now scored for an incredible 78th consecutive league game, they are an unstoppable force and deserving of their decade of dominance.
