Borussia Dortmund interested in Manchester United star. According to The Daily Mail, Borussia Dortmund has rekindled their interest in Anthony Elanga, a Manchester United attacker.
Elanga, who has been a member of the Red Devils since 2015, gained notoriety during the 2021–22 season while Ralf Rangnick served as the team’s temporary manager. Under the German, the attacker played 26 games with 16 starts, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
The Swedish international kept playing frequently under Erik Ten Hag after the Dutchman became Manchester United’s manager last summer. Before the club’s break in November for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he made 13 appearances in various competitions.
Elanga, 21, was demoted at Old Trafford in the second half of the 2022–23 campaign, though. His lone appearance for the Red Devils after December was in the 3-0 EFL Cup quarterfinal victory at home over Charlton Athletic.
Despite holding a contract through 2026, Elanga’s lack of participation in the second half of the previous season has sparked concerns about his future at Manchester United. Formerly planning to lease him out, the Red Devils are reportedly now thinking about selling him this summer for as cheap as £10 million.
The aforementioned source claims that Borussia Dortmund is once again interested in signing Elanga. It’s important to remember that the Bundesliga team was interested in him in January, but Ten Hag prevented a transfer for the attacker.
Dortmund is willing to use some of the $113 million they received from the sale of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid to enhance their team. Karim Adeyemi, Donyell Malen, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens might have to compete with Elanga at Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund is not the only team interested in signing Elanga, it should be noted. It was discovered earlier this month that the Swede is also being watched by their Bundesliga opponents, RB Leipzig.
Third Mason Mount offer from Manchester United rejected by Chelsea
Meanwhile, Manchester United is still trying to make their first summertime acquisition. They are concentrated on completing a deal for Mason Mount, who is determined on moving to Old Trafford. They have had trouble agreeing on a transfer fee with Chelsea, though.
After it became apparent that Mount, 24, had no plans to extend his contract past 2024, the Blues are prepared to trade him this summer. They have previously turned down three proposals from Manchester United, though. According to The Athletic, the most recent offer from the Red Devils was for £50 million plus $5 million in add-ons.
For the England international, Chelsea is seeking at least £58 million as well as a further £7 million. The London powerhouses are eager to come to an arrangement quickly. They consented to meet with the Old Trafford team to come up with a solution.
