PSG’s Lionel Messi could be a transfer target for Inter Miami. Agent Jerome Meary recently asserted that Inter Miami’s top trade target is Major League Soccer (MLS) powerhouse Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Jorge Mas, the owner of the MLS team, allegedly met with the Argentine’s entourage following the conclusion of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
According to Meary, who recently spoke with L’Equipe, “He is the number one goal for Jorge Mas, the owner of Inter Miami. They were speaking before Messi joined PSG, but talks have started again, and Mas spent a lot of time in Qatar with Messi’s representatives.”
At the moment, Lionel Messi is nearing the end of his deal with the French team. Despite playing in 30 games this season and contributing 16 assists and 18 goals, the Argentine has yet to sign a contract renewal; his current deal expires on June 30, 2023.
Recently, PSG boss Christophe Galtier discussed Messi and Sergio Ramos’ potential futures with the Parisian team. The former Real Madrid and Spain captain is presently in the final months of his current contract, similar to Messi. Galtier stated (via RMC Sport): “No, there is no question about these two great players with an amazing track record, who know this kind of situation, in a press conference prior to the Ligue 1 away match against Brest. They play at a very high level and switch between games rapidly. Their business arrangement? They are accustomed to situations like this.
Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021 for free after the club was unable to extend his contract due to La Liga wage limit regulations. Since then, he has played 64 games for the French powerhouses, scoring 29 goals and dishing out 31 assists.
When Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain, supporters believed his influence would improve the Ligue 1 powerhouses’ performance in the UEFA Champions League. The French giants haven’t had much of an effect in European competitions despite dominating at home.
Four times, Lionel Messi has won the UEFA Champions League. With only Cristiano Ronaldo possibly being a greater player than him in tournament history, he also has an impressive record in the competition.
The Parisians have lost two straight games in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League despite the appearance of Lionel Messi. This season, Bayern Munich humiliated the Ligue 1 team after Real Madrid put a stop to their tournament in 2021–22.
