Brazil to plan replacing Tite with Ex-Barcelona coach Enrique. To succeed Tite, Brazil has placed its sights on former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique. Tite resigned as Selecao’s coach after the team lost in the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals, leaving the team without a head coach. Croatia defeated Tite’s team in a 4-2 penalty shootout following a 1-1 tie in extra time.
Top managers like Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane of the erstwhile Los Blancos have both been mentioned in connection with the position. Enrique, though, is the most recent candidate to be considered to succeed Tite, according to Fichajes. Enrique is apparently seen as the best option by the Brazilian football federation to succeed Tite.
In a similar vein to how Tite left Selecao, the former Barcelona manager has only recently resigned from his position as Spain’s manager. La Roja was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup in the round of 16 by Morocco, losing 3-0 on penalties. According to reports, the initial meetings between the two parties could happen shortly. This is true despite Enrique’s hints that he would prefer to continue managing club football over international football.
The Spaniard had great success while playing for Barcelona, winning three times in three seasons in La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League. Neymar, a PSG forward, scored 90 goals and contributed 68 assists in 145 matches while playing for Barcelona under Enrique. He departed Barcelona in 2017 and was named manager of Spain in 2018. He oversaw the team’s turnaround.
La Roja now has a young, competitive team that was expected to be among the top teams at the World Cup but faltered under pressure. During Enrique’s four years as manager of the Spanish national team, the team recorded 25 victories, 11 draws, and 9 losses.
