Jose Mourinho willing to convince Firmino to join Roma. Jose Mourinho wants to persuade a superstar to join Roma for the upcoming season, according to reports.
According to reports, AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho is trying to persuade Roberto Firmino, a striker for Liverpool, to join the Serie A team next year.
31-year-old Firmino has made the decision to quit the Reds when his deal expires at the end of the current campaign. Roma is the newest club to be connected to the Brazilian forward, who is drawing a lot of interest.
Mourinho has mentioned Firmino as one of his main objectives for the summer, according to the Spanish publication Fichajes. The Portuguese coach wants to strengthen his offense and provide Tammy Abraham with rivalry.
Despite receiving a smaller role at Anfield this season, Firmino has excelled for Jurgen Klopp’s team. In 32 appearances across different tournaments, he has 11 goals and 5 assists. In Sunday’s (April 9) 2-2 draw between Liverpool and league-leading Arsenal, the striker struck a crucial equalize.
Due to his eight years with the Merseysiders, the Brazilian can boast of a wealth of expertise. He has won the League Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, and Premier League.
Last season, Mourinho praised Firmino for his ability to involve others in the game. He made reference to the frontline Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane helped form with Firmino over a number of seasons. The Roma coach stated last year (via All Football): “He’s very important to Salah and to Mane because he drops back in between the lines to allow Salah and Mane to score as many goals.”
He continued: “He’s fantastic, and I didn’t know the words to say it. I appreciate that you now refer to him as a workhorse. I get what it means. He gives the team his all-out effort.”
In 2004, the manager of Roma desired the position at Liverpool:
JOE claims that Mourinho once had a strong interest in managing Liverpool in 2004. When the amazing UEFA Champions League round of 16 victories over Manchester United occurred, the Portuguese coach was in charge of FC Porto.
Jorge Baideck, who served as his representative at the time, showed up at Anfield to persuade the Merseysiders to hire him as their next coach. In a meeting with one of the club’s previous senior executives, the agent is said to have said: “Jose Mourinho would like to come and manage Liverpool.”
However, Baideck’s pitch fell short, and the Portuguese manager was not chosen to lead the Anfield giants.
He did, however, make his English football debut the following season by joining Chelsea. During his first tenure at Stamford Bridge, he went on to win the Premier League twice, the FA Cup once, and the League Cup twice.
