After returning to training last week following a hamstring injury, N’Golo Kante has experienced a setback. Since Chelsea’s August match against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, Kante has been absent from the lineup. The midfielder was on the verge of returning to first-team action, but his hopes of playing soon have been dashed.
Potter remarked, “N’Golo, we’re just waiting for his reaction from his training,” when speaking to reporters. His response is undoubtedly not ideal, so we will have to wait to see how severe it is before moving forward. For him and us, it’s not ideal and disappointing.
Kante has resumed full training with Chelsea. During the international break, Didier Deschamps left the 31-year-old out of France’s team for matches against Austria and Denmark so that he could focus on improving his fitness. He missed the match against Milan, therefore he is still not match-ready.
NG is training more and more, as Potter stated. Not completely, but getting there. That is definitely a plus. I think that’s about all. For the Tuesday journey to Milan, Potter still has a sizable squad to pick from. Wesley Fofana sustained an injury during the match last week, and Hakim Ziyech was unable to travel because of an illness.
The Blues, who were last in the group going into the third matchday only last week, might move up to the top if they win on Tuesday night. Prior to a crucial game in a close group, Milan will present challenging competition after defeating Juventus in Serie A at the weekend. It’s a fantastic environment here and a pretty unique game, he said. As we did [last week], AC Milan will attempt to capitalize on home-field advantage. Two strong teams with similar strengths. I am anticipating it.
Before returning to Premier League play on October 16 against Aston Villa, the Blues will be looking to build on their stunning victory over the Rossoneri on Tuesday.
