It has been 30 years now that an iconic trainer marking since Ian Wright and David Rocastle were in Gunners team. In Brokckley they grew up and started their journey with Arsenal. As a dedication to these two players, the trainers have flags of Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago regarding the Caribean heritage. In the tongue of the trainer, you will notice the date Sept 28th, 1991 as this is the first time they played together for Arsenal in a league.
The Adidas ZX 420 was the choice for many in the 80s and this is revamped with new Gunner’s styling that has cannon crest execution on heels and there are color accents taken from Jamaican and Trinidad and Tobago flags featuring three stripes branding. Ian Wright said, “These new trainers and the feeling mean a lot to me as Rocky and I were both best friends when we were young and we grew together and played on the streets of Honor Oak. I feel sad about my best friend’s demise and it has been more than 21 years now. Rocky taught me the meaning of playing with Arsenal. I still miss Rocky every day and I think about him at least 2 times a day.
These new trainers come from Honor Oak Estate where we grew up and they represent the entire football journey that we cherished. I’m very pleased to say that Adidas and I got to design these shoes to remember Rocky and keep his legacy alive.” A total of 1991 shoes will be made as a limited edition which represents the date when they both played together for the first time in a league for Arsenal. These trainers will be available as a limited edition in retail soon.
