PSG manager Christophe Galtier praises Lionel Messi. Christophe Galtier, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has praised Lionel Messi for leading the Ligue 1 team to victory on Saturday (February 4). The former Barcelona star’s game-winning goal helped his team defeat Toulouse 2-1 at home.
Achraf Hakimi equalized the score seven minutes before halftime after PSG fell behind 1-0 at home in the twentieth minute. In the absence of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, Messi dominated the attack, and his goal in the 58th minute gave the French powerhouses the three points.
After the game, Messi was quoted as saying that he is a natural leader and did an excellent job in his role. He stated: “Leo controls the group. Two players are missing—Kylian and Ney—as well as Marco Verratti and Sergio Ramos. He takes on this leadership position. It happens naturally. He has a lot of significance in our game today and in the middle of the week; he is a significant benchmark. In the game and the animation, he shows a lot of initiative. But you need to give him even more of the ball.”
Following the Ligue 1 team’s victory over Montpellier the previous week, Christophe Galtier also praised Lionel Messi. After Kylian Mbappe left the game injured and was replaced by the Argentine, Neymar had already been ruled out.
The boss of PSG had said: “The three are interconnected in several ways. Messi and Neymar, Mbappé, and Neymar… However, given the absences, I must structure the team around Leo, as we did in Montpellier. Leo will be in the flow… After that, it will be up to the players who will take their position to step up their game, be readily available, and take advantage of opportunities.”
Galtier further said “Leo, who managed to win the match (against Montpellier) without Sergio and Kylian. The players devoted themselves to Leo because he was a natural leader. I gave everyone my sincere congratulations for completing the necessary work in this regard.” The team they play in the French Cup later this week, Marseille, is presently eight points behind PSG, led by Lionel Messi.
