Arsenal-eyed Carlos Soler has taken a toll by the media. Carlos Soler, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), is supposedly a target for Arsenal. However, the midfielder received criticism from several media sites for how he played in PSG’s 2-1 victory over Toulouse at home on February 4. He received a score of just three out of ten from L’Equipe, which stated that Soler “disappeared totally.”
Meanwhile, Foot Mercato awarded him a four for the performance and bemoaned a “major lack of character.” Despite being able to contribute to Achraf Hakimi’s equalizing goal with an assist, Soler was undoubtedly unconvincing, according to the media.
Soler transferred from Valencia to the French team last summer. Since then, he has played 24 times for the Ligue 1 team, making six goals and four assists. Jorginho was just signed by Arsenal from Chelsea during the recently closed winter transfer window. But the Gunners might look at the transfer market once more the following summer.
On February 4, at Goodison Park, Arsenal lost to Everton 1-0, only their second Premier League loss of the year. Arteta praised Sean Dyche’s team in his post-game remarks, as quoted by the official Gunners website: “I thought Everton played incredibly well, and we should first congratulate them for how they have changed the situation. They were quite effective, and I believe that’s why they won the game. From our perspective, [we] are unhappy since it is evident that we did not achieve the desired outcome, but the performance does not align with what we have been doing.”
He went on: “Particularly in the first of two phases when they were very direct and we battled to handle that kind of game and go back on the path to playing the way we wanted to. With the number of opportunities we created in the final third, we should have scored considerably more goals and had far better chances than we did today.” The Gunners still lead the Premier League standings with 50 points after 20 games, despite the defeat. With a game remaining, they have a five-point advantage over Manchester City.
