French giants PSG are accused of financial cheaters allegedly fail to bear player’s salaries. In the recent summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain has signed top-rated players including Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos. La Liga president Javier Tebas has labeled PSG financial ‘cheaters’.
Tebas claims that the Parisians cannot afford to pay the combined salaries of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Sergio Ramos, and others. When Barcelona were unable to offer the six-time Ballon d’Or winner a new contract due to strict salary regulations Messi left La Liga for the Ligue 1 club in the summer.
Ramos’s transfer rumor to Paris was also confirmed after he failed to reach an agreement with Real Madrid on a new contract. He left Los Blancos after 16 years stint and partnered with El Clasico rival Messi at PSG. Meanwhile, the club rejected Real Marid’s offer for Kylian Mbappe last month, keeping him ahead of the competition.
Tebas has a long history of animosity toward PSG, dating back to their €222 million acquisition of Neymar in 2017. Critics have questioned Real’s ability to pursue Mbappe and others, including Erling Haaland and Paul Pogba, but Tebas insists Los Blancos will never cheat. As a result, insisting that PSG cannot cover salaries on normal income alone Tebas has once again unleashed on the French club.
“Madrid can never be PSG because PSG cheats the financial controls,” Tebas said, via Mundo Deportivo’s football news reports. “Currently they have a salary expense close to €600m when they are in a league where [income from] broadcasting rights have fallen by 40%.”
Tebas continued, “It is impossible that PSG has sponsors that give them 30% more than the average income of [Manchester] United, Real Madrid, Barcelona…it is absolutely impossible. Real Madrid will not be PSG because it does not enter the game of cheating and it is not a state club. That is one of the problems we have in European football.”
