West Ham United may lose on to keep Jese Lingard for the next season and the player could continue his career at Manchester United. According to sources Hammers are unable to meet his salary demands of £100,000-a-week, hence Lingard is set to return to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
In January 2021, Lingard arrived at West Ham on loan from Manchester United having not featured in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since the start of the campaign. The England international has been outstanding since joining the Hammers until the end of the season,
In 13 Premier League games for West Ham, Jese Lingard has scored nine goals and created three assists thus far, prompting the Hammers to express interest in making the transfer permanent. Now, according to the Daily Mail, Lingard “could start next season back at” Manchester United because West Ham “doubt they will find the funds to sign him on a permanent contract.”
In mid-April, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that he wanted to bring Lingard back to Manchester United after the season, but there have been rumors that they would accept a fee of around £30 million.
The Hammers were dubbed “decimated by the pandemic” by the newspaper after losing £65 million last season.
Bruno Fernandes hailed Jese Lingard
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes praised the 28-year-old, who is expected to return to Old Trafford for the final year of his contract. Bruno feels Lingard has been the best player in the Premier League for a spell this season as he gave a spectacular performance with West Ham.
“If you see Jesse, I think Jesse, at the moment, if you watch the last 10 games, has been top, top, top level,” Fernandes said to Inside United magazine.
“For me, if you watch the last 10 games, he’s been the best player in the Premier League, scoring and assists in every game. Everyone here is really, really happy for him. He has confidence back, he has his swag back, because he is feeling confident. We are really, really happy for what he is doing.”
