Mirko Vucinic reveals that he had clashed against Sampdoria with Simone Perrotta, says that Roma did not win the Scudetto in 2010 ‘will stay with me forever’.
Inter went on to defend their crown as part of a historic Treble when they faced Samp, Roma had the Serie A title in their hands, but they squandered a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1.
“It’s a wound that’s stopped healing,” Vucinic told. “It’ll stay with me for life.”
“I came close to winning two Scudetti with Roma, but they were taken away from me on the last day.”
“I’m also sorry to all the Giallorossi fans.”
During the match, lamenting his inability to ‘keep quiet’, the former Juventus attacker then confessed to quarreling with Perrotta.
“I can’t explain it to you. In that second half, they had two attempts on goal.”
“It’s also been said that I had an argument with Perrotta at half-time, but it was normal. We cleared the air immediately.”
“It was all because I didn’t pass him the ball. He said something to me and I answered him back.”
“Thinking about it now, I should’ve kept quiet. He was more experienced, a world champion and a leader for us. Then they came up with those two goals…”
He did, however, score a brace in that season’s 2-1 derby win over Lazio, which saw Claudio Ranieri taking off Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi in half time …
“I didn’t expect us to win because nothing was coming off in the first half, then the coach took off Totti and De Rossi, which was slightly crazy.”
“He was practically removing the supporting wall of the stadium, but he was made right because we won.”
“I won’t tell you what happened after the game… We celebrated and let’s say I wasn’t too drunk…”
“[The goals] made me look good! My closest friends support Lazio and they didn’t talk to me for days.”
