French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) had to be content with a draw in the world’s biggest football league UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The 3 biggest strikers in the world namely Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe were playing in this football match for PSG yet failed to win. Despite these, the team could not do much and PSG had to play a 1-1 draw against the small Belgian club Brugge.
It was the first match for both PSG and Brugge. Ander Herrera scored the only goal for PSG. He scored a brilliant goal in the 15th minute off Mbappe’s cross. 12 minutes later, i.e. in the 27th minute, Brugge leveled the scoreboard at 1-1. Hans Vanaken scored the goal for Brugge when his shot hit PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe’s body and went into the goal post.
PSG’s troubles escalated when Mbappe was injured and Icardi was substituted. However, Brugge’s defenders also troubled Messi, Neymar and Icardi did not allow them to launch a single counter-attack. As a result, PSG had to be content with a draw against Brugge. For the first time since Messi’s arrival, the French club’s coach sent the trio of him, Neymar, and Mbappe to the field together.
Lionel Messi played the 150th match in the Champions League football tournament. Prior to this, he has played 149 matches for Spanish club Barcelona and after 18 years he played his first Champions League match at a different club which was marked to be the 150th of his career. In total UCL he has scored 120 goals while Messi has 41 assists. 13 times he has got the yellow card in this competition. Messi has played a total of 780 matches in his club career. In this he has scored 672 goals.
