Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson will be forced to stay in the UK in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and miss the funeral of his late father, who died this week in Brazil, having unsuccessfully sought to find a way to return home.
It was confirmed that Alisson’s father drowned in a lake at the family’s vacation ranch in the far south of Brazil, where new federal lockout controls have recently been placed in effect.
According to the Daily Mail, Alisson took the ‘heartbreaking decision’ not to fly between meeting the difficult constraints in the state of Rio Grande so Sul and the ban on all direct flights between Brazil and the United Kingdom, as well as compulsory quarantine measures upon his return.
