Nottingham Forest to sign Allan Saint-Maximin. Allegedly making a bold bid to capture Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle United is Nottingham Forest. This season at St James’ Park, the Frenchman has had trouble getting playing time.
Since taking over for Steve Bruce as the club’s manager in November 2021, Eddie Howe, the manager of the Magpies, has overseen an extraordinary transformation on Tyneside. His team is now third after 20 games and is competing for a top-four spot.
The main drawback to Howe’s administration thus far has been Saint-Maximin, 25, who previously dominated the Premier League. In only 15 appearances across all competitions, he has one goal and three assists.
Saint-Maximin has been left off the team because of the play of Miguel Almiron and Joelinton, and he might be looking for more first-team opportunities elsewhere. Chris Wood, a striker for Newcastle, has already been recruited by Nottingham Forest to join them on loan.
The Telegraph claims that amid discussions on Wood’s loan move, Steve Cooper’s team made an audacious bid to sign Saint-Maximin. During his tenure at Watford, Forest’s sporting director Filippo Giraldi is thought to have kept tabs on the French winger. He is said to be a major fan of Saint-Maximin.
Although the Frenchman has teammates at Nottingham Forest, Newcastle does not want him to depart. In 108 games since joining the Magpies from OGC Nice in 2019 for £16 million, he has scored 13 goals and contributed 19 assists. Sherwood, a former manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has advised Newcastle to go after Brighton attacker Ferguson. The youthful Irishman and legendary Alan Shearer of Tyneside have been likened to him.
According to the ex-Spurs manager, Wood might be replaced by the Seagulls’ frontman (according to the Irish Examiner): We already mentioned Newcastle’s need for a striker, right? There could be one there (Ferguson). Now enter. After he has scored 50 Premier League goals, there is no purpose in signing him since he will be too expensive. When they’re ready, they’re ready, so pick him out right away.
In Saturday’s 2-2 draw between Brighton and Leicester City, Ferguson scored a noteworthy goal (January 21). Roberto De Zerbi is looking down just at the academy also and appreciates the qualities of this child, and that finish (against Leicester) is excellent, said Sherwood in comparison to Shearer’s goals during his prime. Alan Shearer in his prime is shown there.
In 12 appearances for Brighton’s senior team, the 18-year-old Irish attacker has four goals and four assists. If the Magpies want the young player whose value is rising in the English top division, they might need to act quickly.
