Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised the “special” striker of teenage Mason Greenwood, as the Manchester United boss channeled his resources to meet the requirements of four games in just eight days. The 19-year-old Greenwood combined with Wayne Rooney as the top scorer in Premier League history on Sunday’s 3–1 Aston Villa.
During the game at the Villa, Solskjaer replaced Mason Greenwood for 25 minutes to keep England as new as possible. “Yes, he is tired, his body is not yet full and he may not be ready for all these games, but he has something special,” said the United boss, whose team is now guaranteed in the Champions League Location.
“The kid just rotates the game in a split second, and the goal was great, so he was so excited that he came back to the best score and learned more and more about the other bits.”
Solskjaer said last week he expressed his intention to make a radical change during United’s career, saying the first-class knockout effects in the Premier League were “everyone’s problem”.
The clash with Liverpool was canceled last week as fans attacked Old Trafford during protests against the Glazers, United’s US bosses following the collapse of the European Super League. Solskjaer, who is waiting to find out the injury to Harry Maguire’s ankle, said that still alive in the title race, he would like to go “all over the game”, but admitted that it was impossible is.
“Speaking of honesty in the league and others, I should not blame them because I have to make changes because I have to. It’s not safe for them to play all four, so I have to prioritize,” he said.
Solskjaer has a number of potential young replacements, including Amad Diallo, Shola Shoretire, and Anthony Elanga. “I’m in dispute, yes, to be sure,” he said. “I’m on the first team, they train with us every day, so I think some young people will definitely be in attendance.”
