Liverpool and Newcastle in race for Sofyan Amrabat. Sofyan Amrabat, a midfielder for Fiorentina, is interested in moving to Liverpool and Newcastle United, but he is holding out for Barcelona to make an offer. If he can land a move to the Catalan team, the 26-year-old is eager to play in Spain and willing to take his time.
Giacomo Lacobellis, a journalist, claims that only Liverpool and Newcastle United are currently willing to match Fiorentina’s asking price. The midfielder is valued at €30 million and is wanted by several other teams.
In addition to Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Atletico Madrid are thought to be monitoring the Moroccan star. Walid Regragui, the manager of Morocco, has disclosed that the Fiorentina star is close to joining a new team.
ESPN cited him as stating the following: “He won’t play [against South Africa], so I’ve decided to let him depart the national team camp. He’s already participated in numerous games this season. Given that he’ll shortly be joining a new team, I wouldn’t want to take the chance of him getting hurt.”
Since his performances in the 2022 FIFA World Cup attracted everyone’s attention, the player has been in the spotlight.
Sofyan Amrabat was sought after by Barcelona and Manchester United in January:
Mohamed Sinouh, Sofyan Amrabat’s agent, acknowledged earlier this year that the midfielder was very interested in January. He said that in the January transfer window, Manchester United and Barcelona were competing to sign the Fiorentina star.
He told CalcioMercato: “During the January transfer window, we got numerous bids, including one from Manchester United, but we were unable to come to an agreement. Barça? Because of his role in the World Cup and his safe worth, Fiorentina’s president refused to allow him to leave.”
The Barcelona target’s agent added: “Two or three days before the market closed, Barcelona offered Sofyan a loan, but they were unable to incorporate a compulsory purchase option, so that was the end of the deal. The ‘Cules’ did offer a substantial amount for the loan, and Sofyan was eager to join Barca and hopeful that the entire operation may succeed. However, Fiorentina would not let him leave.”
Sinouh continued: “In the final two or three days of the transfer window, three clubs pursued him. Fiorentina refused to provide Manchester United the loan with the option to buy that they requested.”
Fiorentina signed the Barcelona target in 2020 for a rumored €20 million transfer price. According to reports, the Italian club is prepared to trade him this summer.
