Max Kilman and Raul Jimenez’s strike in the first half led Wolves to beat Everton 2-1 on Monday evening in a Premier League clash. Initial 45 minutes of the football match before the break was dominated by Wolves, forcing Jordan Pickford into saves from Ruben Neves and Francisco Trincao early on. They even had the ball in the net after 15 minutes through Hwang Hee-chan, whose shot was correctly called out for offside by VAR.
A well-deserved lead for the team was taken by Kilman, who rose highest from a corner to head in just before the half-hour mark, gave the team. A startling backpass from Ben Godfrey allowed Jimenez through on goal just a few minutes later, and the Mexican dinked home a wonderful attempt to double Wolves’ lead heading into the half.
Everton improved in the second half and found a way back into the game through Alex Iwobi’s low strike, which was too powerful for Jose Sa to stop and nestled into the back of the net, setting up an exciting final quarter-hour. Trincao twisted his way into the box seconds later and wasted a sitter, slicing wide from ten yards out when he should have scored.
Rafa Benitez’s side battled for an equalizer and came close through Anthony Gordon, whose late header prompted a brilliant save from Sa, but they had given themselves too much work to do and had to concede. Watch football highlights of the Premier League match in which the Wolves beat Everton.
