Javier Pastore has reached an agreement to terminate his contract with Roma. Pastore’s disappointing spell with Roma has ended and he left the club after his contract was mutually terminated. After playing for three years at an Italian club the 32-year-old said it is difficult for him to leave.
In June 2018 the Argentine midfielder joined the Serie A club from Paris Saint-Germain for €24.7 million and has been plagued by injuries. Pastore had left hip surgery a year ago and appeared in just five games for the Giallorossi last season.
Roma, led by General Manager Tiago Pinto, has reached an agreement to terminate Javier Pastore’s contract with mutual consent after weeks of negotiations and this football news was confirmed by the club on their official website. The next move of the Argentine is yet unknown.
“AS Roma announce they have reached an agreement for the consensual termination of Javier Pastore’s contract,” the club wrote on Twitter. “The whole club wishes Javier the best of luck for the future.” The 32-year-old playmaker scored only four goals and made three assists in 37 football games for the club and is now free to find a new club.
Javier Pastore sent a message to the Roma fans after terminating his contract on Monday. He posted on Instagram: “It is not easy for me to leave this club, the city and these fans with the awareness of not being able to meet the expectations that they had for me. Anyone who knows me knows how much I have suffered and with what commitment I have worked to try to overturn my destiny.”
“Ours was not a lucky story, but in leaving I also feel that I have kept intact a feeling of respect and gratitude towards this city and towards the people who three years ago welcomed me with love and enthusiasm. I hope you will soon be able to celebrate great successes: Roma, Roma and their fans deserve them.”
