James Milner praised by Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate. Ibrahima Konate, a defender for Liverpool, has talked about the leadership and influence James Milner provided the Merseyside team.
After spending eight illustrious seasons with the Reds, Milner is leaving Anfield. The seasoned midfielder appeared in 332 games in all competitions, contributing 46 assists and 26 goals. During his tenure on Merseyside, he won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup.
RMC Sport’s Jeremie Rothen questioned Konate about how he adjusted to playing for Liverpool in the English Premier League. When he was playing with the 37-year-old, he mentioned Milner as the “big boss”: “James Milner, who is leaving us this season, and I were fortunate to be together. He was the boss and the leader. That was something I had never seen before; it was incredible! He taught me a lot of things.”
For €40 million, Konate moved to Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021. With 95 games in all competitions, he has made an impression in the early stages of his Anfield career. In 24 games this season, the Frenchman assisted Jurgen Klopp’s team in keeping nine clean sheets.
According to the French international, the Reds would be without a leader in the locker room if Milner left. The Englishman, who has a stellar reputation for professionalism, has been crucial to the team’s recent success under Klopp.
When his contract with the Merseysiders expires at the end of the month, Milner is expected to sign with Brighton & Hove Albion. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the seasoned midfielder will agree to a one-year contract with Amex.
After a frustrating loan with Liverpool, Arthur Melo is eager to play in the Premier League again:
Arthur returned to Juventus after his disastrous loan assignment. Juventus, a Serie A powerhouse, loaned Arthur Melo to Liverpool for the entire season. He came in the summer of 2017 as Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita’s injuries left Klopp in dire need of a midfielder. The Old Lady midfielder was acquired by the Reds for a loan price of £4 million.
However, only one month into his loan at Anfield, Arthur tore his quadriceps. The Brazilian played only once across all competitions while missing the majority of the season.
The 26-year-old is still allegedly interested in playing football in England, though. According to The Daily Mail, Arthur is eager to return to the Premier League because he is no longer needed at the Allianz Stadium.
With two years remaining on his Juventus deal, Arthur is rated at €15 million by Transfermarkt. His loan agreement includes a €37.5 million buy option, but Liverpool is unlikely to exercise it.
