Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has spoken out about forward Sergio Agüero’s decision to leave the club at the end of the season.
“There are still two months ahead of us working together. In training today I saw how good he is and how much he gives back,” said the coach to Sky Sports.
“Sergio is irreplaceable. From a statistical point of view, there may be a replacement for him, but when a player has 360 games and 250-plus goals and numerous titles, it’s not easy to find a replacement for him.”
“He is a legend, the best forward that ever played for this club. He is irreplaceable in the hearts and souls of our fans, the players he has played with, the coaches he has worked with.”
“He is a great man and if he is still only looking forward, he can extend his career by 2, 3, 5 years.”
“I think he will still score some interesting goals this season. Alas, he missed a year. I won’t be believed because we played successfully, but we missed him at times.”
“He helped the club to reach the next level. That’s why everyone in the team and the fans will always be grateful to him.”
