Former Liverpool star criticizes Ruben Neves. Peter Crouch, a former striker for Liverpool, has criticized Ruben Neves after the 26-year-old midfielder signed for Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League for £47 million.
This transfer window has seen a significant upheaval because of the Saudi Pro League, where prominent players have been drawn in by the enormous salaries on offer. By joining Al-Nassr in January, Cristiano Ronaldo set the pattern.
N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema have since joined Al-Ittihad. The Chelsea trio of Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy, and Kalidou Koulibaly is also planning to switch from playing in the Premier League to the Saudi Pro League.
Ruben Neves, a midfielder for Wolverhampton Wanderers who has previously been linked to Liverpool, has also made the decision to emigrate to Saudi Arabia.
Neves is still in his prime and is capable of winning titles in Europe, according to Peter Crouch, who wasn’t impressed with his choice. He stated (through Liverpool Echo and TalkSPORT): “In terms of players, you can sort of comprehend it. I don’t understand why players in their prime 25 years old are joining Saudi clubs. Any league’s launch will always be at least 10 years distant; this has happened previously. The only positive about the Saudi situation is that these young men are committed. They did it with the LIV golf, but they persisted.”
Crouch added: “I believe that will probably also be true for football.” It appears to be happening, whether we like it or not, so we really can’t ignore it. However, for athletes like 26-year-old Neves to travel to Saudi Arabia and play… I understand it when it comes to athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, who have accomplished everything.”
The former Liverpool striker’s analysis was this:
“You have one more paycheck in the sun before you can retire. They have completed their game goals in full. However, these boys, who are 25 and 26, have the chance to go out and succeed. It has to do with heritage and recollections. They’ll still receive a good salary, don’t they?”
A Saudi Arabian football official expresses interest in signing Mohamed Salah of Liverpool:
Hafez Al-Medlej, a Saudi Arabian football official, has said that they intend to work on signing Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah in the future.
According to Al-Medlej (via Liverpool Echo): “Let’s hope Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva shows up. Because Mohamed Salah is so well-liked in the Arab world and in Europe, we must also begin the process of signing him. Salah, in my opinion, still has records to break with Liverpool, therefore if he doesn’t come now, I hope he will later.”
With the Reds, Mohamed Salah has shown to be one of the world’s most lethal wingers. In 305 games since making his club debut six seasons ago, he has tallied 186 goals and 79 assists. Seven trophies have also been won by him with the Reds.
Due to his success in Europe, Salah is very well-liked throughout Egypt and the Middle East in general. Due to his popularity and the fact that he plays for Liverpool, many Arab supporters of the team.
It would be intriguing to watch if the Egyptian international moves to Saudi Arabia following his time in Europe because he has a contract with Liverpool till the conclusion of the 2024–25 season.
