Fabrizio Romano confirms the signing of Ivan Fresneda. Ivan Fresneda, a right-back from Real Valladolid, has reportedly initiated negotiations with Arsenal, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano. Leandro Trossard is the first new player that Arsenal has brought in this month. This Monday, they announced the £27 million acquisition of the Belgian from Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion.
To achieve their goal of winning the title, Arsenal is committed to bolstering their roster during the current winter transfer window. For the Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior, a £17.5 million contract has already been set up. According to reports, Kiwior has already made the trip to London to complete his transfer to the north London giants. But before the month is out, Mikel Arteta’s team might add more players to their roster.
The right-back position appears to be where Arsenal feels they need to make improvements this month. To cover for Ben White, they are trying to add a fresh player. Thus, the full-back Fresneda of Real Valladolid has been a transfer target for the London team. There have been rumors that the top-placed Premier League team will try to sign the Spaniard.
Now it’s known that Arsenal and Fresneda are in talks to transfer each other. According to Romano, conversations with the agency and between the teams are now taking place. The journalist tweeted the following: “Ivan Fresneda’s transfer from Valladolid is reportedly being discussed by Arsenal. Club and agent-side conversations are currently going on.”
Additionally, according to Romano, Fresneda was sitting on Real Valladolid’s bench for their La Liga match against Atletico Madrid because the player might soon quit the team. Added him: “Fresneda, who could be out next week, is sitting on the bench tonight. 3/4 clubs are interested in signing a Spanish RB.”
However, Fresneda’s talents from the Spanish team are also sought by other clubs. Several teams, including Newcastle United, have expressed interest in signing him. This month, the Gunners may approve a transfer for Cedric Soares due to the acquisition of a new right-back. With only two league appearances this season, the defender, who has been at the Emirates Stadium since January 2020, has struggled to find playing time.
Soares is expected to leave the north London powerhouses during the current transfer window. This month, Fulham is rumored to be interested in signing him.
