Matchday 2 of the EFL Cup third round was played yesterday, here is the results recap. West Ham avenged their Premier League defeat at the hands of Manchester United by knocking the Red Devils out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. Manchester United lost the EFL Cup match as the West Ham United footballers reached the round of 16 of the League Cup. The Hammers defeated the hosts with 1-0 football results at Old Trafford.
The only goal of the game was scored in just the 9th minute of the match. Manuel Lanzini scored the deciding goal and the winning goal for West Ham. The guests could have celebrated more convincingly, but Andrij Jarmolenko hit the post in the 87th minute. Cristiano Ronaldo, who was spared, did not play for Manchester united. Another match of the football tournament between Chelsea and Aston Villa ended in a draw but the Blues beat Villa Park 4-3 with a better penalty shootout. In the 54th minute, Timo Werner scored for the London club and ten minutes later Cameron Archer equalized. Young and Nakamba’s misses decided the penalty shootout.

Tottenham also celebrated a 3-2 win over Wolverhampton after the penalty shootout. The match ended 2-2 after the Spurs took a 2-0 lead and the home side equalized. Tottenham advanced to the next round of the EFL Cup as Nuno Espirito Santo claimed bragging rights over his former club.
On the other hand, Arsenal defeated AFC Wimbledon in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening, thanks to goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Emile Smith Rowe, and Eddie Nketiah.
