Hansi Flick will take over as coach of Germany after the European Football Championship 2020. Flick will replace current coach Joachim Löw. The German Football Federation reported on Tuesday that Flick had signed a three-year contract that would take effect from July 1. Hans-Dieter Flick, who headed Bayern Munich last season, will be the new head coach.
After Euro 2020, the German national team will have a new head coach as Hansi Flick will take the charge. The German Football Association (DFB) has contracted Flick until 2024, as per DFB official website. The 56-year-old’s deal will commence on July 1. Joachim Löw, who has managed the German national team since 2006, will leave at the end of the Euros.
Flick has previously worked with Germany’s national football team as an assistant to Low. The current German national team coach had announced that he would say goodbye after Euro 2020 after being associated with the team for 15 years.
Flick had previously been associated with Bayern Munich and under his guidance, the team played the final match on Saturday. “It is fantastic that Flick is returning to the federation as the coach of the national team,” said Peter Peters, vice president of the Federation of Germany.
Flick was an assistant to Low from 2006 to 2014. Germany also won the World Cup in Brazil under the guidance of the pair. He was then the sports director of the federation until 2017 and joined Hoffenheim thereafter. Under Flick’s guidance, Bayern Munich won two Bundesliga titles, the Champions League title and the German Cup title.
