Barcelona asked for €15 million for signing France defender. Barcelona has made it a priority to bolster their defense by adding a new right-back. Despite joining the Blaugrana in the summer, former Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has struggled to make an impact. Regulations governing financial fair play restrict Xavi’s side from signing a new player. They will therefore have to wait till the summer to add anything fresh. The Catalan giants have identified a few stars as potential new signees. Despite their keen interest in the Portuguese star, Manchester United activated the one-year contract extension for Diogo Dalot. The Red Devils want the player in the long run.
Juan Foyth of Villareal is also on Barcelona’s shortlist. However, the Mes Que Un squad is unwilling to invest as much money in him. The Blaugranas are currently concentrating on Benjamin Pavard of Bayern Munich, claims SPORT. The coach of his side, Julian Nagelsmann, and Pavard are currently at odds. It’s expected that he’ll leave in the summer.
Pavard can be acquired by the Blaugranas for as cheap as €15 million, and his contract is set to expire in 2024. Given that the player is a FIFA World Cup champion and has a history of success at the highest level, the meager transfer fee can turn out to be a steal for the France international.
However, Pavard raises a few questions. He has already stated his desire to advance in his career as a central defender. The 26-year-old has also experienced discipline problems with his club and nation. Additionally, a number of clubs in the Premier League and Serie A have expressed interest in Pavard. In order to sign Pavard, the Catalan club will have to put their foot on the throttle.
