Barcelona is trying to arrange another exchange of players this summer, claims Catalan Sport.
Previously the exchange was arranged with the Italian champions Juventus, by which Arthur went to Italy and Miralem Pjanic arrived at Camp Nou. Now the Catalans also want to exchange players with Manchester City.
With this exchange, Barcelona wants to bring back a 19-year-old stopper, Eric Garcia, who joined Manchester City leaving Barcelona three years ago.
In addition, even Garcia wants to leave England because he is dissatisfied with his status at the club for which he has played 12 games in the league this season.
“Contacts have begun, but negotiations have not yet taken place because no club wants to agree on anything before the end of this Champions League season. It is only known that Barcelona’s Nelson Semedo and City’s Joao Cancelo could be involved in the exchange,” writes Sport and claims that behind this exchange stands Agent Jorge Mendes.
Mendes is the agent of both Semed and Cancelo and wants to secure a better contract for Semedo, and Cancelo has failed to adapt to English football and is looking for a new club for him.
“It is clear that Barcelona would agree to this exchange because they have been trying to bring Garcia back for a long time, and he also believes that Cancelo would fit in great because he has played great for Valencia before,” adds Sport.
