Hard work is the only “secret” behind penalty save that ended Chelsea midfielder Jorginho’s remarkable streak of spot-kick achievements, says Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.
“I believe this was the third penalty in the Premier League that I had the opportunity to try to save,” Alisson told Liverpool’s official website.
“I’m very glad because we lost on penalties in the Community Shield. You sit a little down as the goalie doesn’t save any penalties and then you say,’ I can do something, I can do things differently.’”
“But the trick is to keep going, to know that you’re working hard in the same way, in the right direction, and we did it together — me, John [Achterberg], Jack [Robinson], and the entire video team that supports us a lot.”
“Millie [James Milner] and Virg [van Dijk] both did very good with the rebound, and I think they had confidence in me that I would save the penalty.”
“But we don’t have to worry about goals, we don’t have to worry about other saves, we have to talk about the squad, how we did so well here. And for the rest of the season, we will have several things to build on.”
