Liverpool is “in the right direction again,” after the victory over Chelsea, says Alisson, who has acknowledged that the success rate of the Reds “dropped a bit” after lockdown.
“We know we fell a little bit, and we don’t know why,” the Brazilian goalkeeper told Sky Sports.
“It wasn’t something we wanted to do, but we knew that if we wanted to be challenging for the championship this season, we had to go back to our way, so I think the standard is higher this season.”
“It’s just the beginning of the season, we’ve had a tough game against Leeds, and it’s been an open game where something can happen. It was a 4-3 match and a nice game for everybody watching football, but a very difficult match to play.”
“Then you have Chelsea away and it’s a difficult opponent and therefore I really enjoyed this from the tactical point of view, the way we went to the pitch. I like the strength of the game, I like the way we defended, the enemy has some chances to score, but it was from the opponent’s quality. But what I loved about that game was our attitude. I hope we’re once again on the right road.”
He added: “I think they have a pretty nice team due to their results, and they bring it out on the pitch. In the defensive process, you can see they are playing together, very well organized and they have great players of really high quality who can make strategic decisions on the pitch.”
“But still, I think our team can do well against them with more games played now. Even back with the clean sheets, it’s something emotional that gives you the confidence to keep going and I think it’s going to be a pretty good match.”
