Stan Collymore’s prediction for Liverpool and Man United. Former Liverpool striker and pundit Stan Collymore believes this Sunday’s match between the Reds and Manchester United will end in a stalemate (March 5). He predicts a 1-1 draw at Anfield, an outcome that will satisfy both teams.
Manchester United is currently in excellent shape and is still in a happy mindset from last weekend’s Carabao Cup victory. They will be motivated to win all three points when they travel to play Liverpool this week in the league.
The Red Devils have won their last four contests overall. Collymore predicts a 1-1 draw at Anfield to put a stop to the streak, though.
He said the following in his CaughtOffside column: “Of course, Sunday’s marquee Premier League matchup at Anfield will feature Liverpool vs. Manchester United. I’ve participated in and witnessed so many of these contests that I’ve grown tired of anticipating a show. While I don’t rule out a good contest, I don’t anticipate a goal-fest.
“Too much ego is at risk. Liverpool will be eager to avoid losing that record on Sunday because Manchester United hasn’t won there in their last six visits.”
Added him: “Both parties will undoubtedly have their share of opportunities, but in the end, I anticipate that they will balance one another out. It might come down to a stroke of luck or an individual genius because I believe Jurgen Klopp and Erik Ten Hag will be extremely cautious about overcommitting players in the opponent’s closing third.
“I could be wrong, but my forecast for the match is a fiercely contested 1-1 draw. Prior to going on to the next issue, I believe both parties would be satisfied with that.”
Liverpool has had a difficult year and is having difficulty reaching the Final Four. With a game remaining, they trail Tottenham Hotspur by six points, but if they fall to Manchester United this week, their position could shift.
Third-placed Erik ten Hag’s team will aim to make it five straight victories across all events to maintain their momentum. They beat West Ham United in the FA Cup matchup last week and defeated Newcastle United by a score of 2-0 last week in the Carabao Cup.
